Why do people become thin when they have emphysema

Because emphysema reduce the oxygen perfusion from alveoli into the blood and also reduce the oxygen supply to the muscle and organ. reduce the oxygen delivery to the periphery cause weight loss and thus they look thin.

❖ People become thin when they have emphysema because emphysema forms when the air sacs in your lungs are damaged. Without enough air sacs to take in air, your lungs can't take in enough oxygen and release the bad air, carbon dioxide.
