I assume that this equation equals 0, so
STEP 1:
Subtract -8 to the other side of the equation
x/5+8= 0
(-8) (-8)
x/5 = -8
STEP 2:
Multiply 5 on both sides.
5(x/5)= -8(5)
x= -40
You answer would be:
x= -40
