Neuroglial cells are special non-neuronal cells that are located within the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. Functions of neuroglial cells include; provision of support and protection for neurons, formation of myelin sheath, maintenance of homeostasis, destruction of pathogens and withdrawal of dead neurons. Neuroglial cells are also involved in metabolism of neurotransmitters and synaptic connections.
