- 3x + 5 > 17

subtract 5 to both sides


- 3x > 12

divide -3 to bothel sides (and you have to flip the sign when you multiply or divide a negative number to both sides)


x < - 4

so the answer should be less than -4

the only answer that is less than -4 is


- 5
