Canaanites were called to the peoples who inhabited the land of Canaan, today that territory corresponds to Israel, Lebanon and parts of Jordan and Syria. The Canaanites were idolatrous and impious people. It was a large and strong town, which could not be easily defeated. Cananeo means materialist or merchant. In the Bible it is said that the Canaanites were merchants who rebelled against God.
