In waves, the amplitude (A) is defined as the distance between the origin to the peak or from the origin to the trough.

Then, From a peak to trough, there is two amplitudes

In our problem,


2 A = 2 m\\ A=(2)/(2) =1m

Then the amplitude of the wave is 1 meter
