In the court case, Marbury v. Madison (1803), the Supreme Court established the doctrine of Judicial Review by which the Court had the authority to review the actions of the legislative and executive branches to determine if they acted within the bounds of the Constitution.

John Marshall: Chief Justice

James Madison: Secretary of State who declined to give job

Thomas Jefferson: Madison's boss as new President.
