A summary is a shorten idea of a complete piece of work, this could be an entire book, a poem, a speech, etc. The objective of a summary is to communicate the main ideas of the text without all the extra and detailed information. so the reader can have a complete idea to understand what the work is about. When we summarize we don't add our own ideas or thesis we just rephrase the main points.
