A person can develop their identity over time by becoming involved in hobbies they enjoy and strengthening their opinion on things they encounter.
Some positive aspects of having a strong identity means that you have the capability to stand your ground during a debate or an argument, and that you don't second guess yourself or doubt yourself during a struggle because you understand yourself. Having a strong understanding of yourself is most important because it the only person who has the capability to know the full depths of you, is you. A strong identity brings comfort and security to a person.
Some negative aspects of having a strong identity is that you can be portrayed as overconfident or arrogant. The drive to prove your identity can overpower you and become overwhelming. This can make you neglect good traits such as being open-minded, welcoming and friendly. When you feel strongly about something too much, you have a biased opinion about it.
