Why are frameshift mutations likely to cause more problems than a point mutation

Answer:

Point mutations occur when only one nucleotide is altered affecting only one location or point of the DNA strand.

While Frameshift mutations are caused by the deletion or insertion of a number of nucleotides.

These altered nucleotides affect the triple nature of gene expression disturbing the whole reading frame. All the codons after mutation are different translating a completely different protein. That's why frameshift mutations cause more problems than point mutations.
