Eating dinner together as a family unit is very important. Families that ate dinner together were 60% less likely to encounter communication problems their families who did not in order to elaborate her point, the author of the passage provided

A statistic. Even though the author also said "60 percent less likely than families that DID NOT," she still said a percentage which makes this fact a statistic. You could also make the argument that it was a contrast, but I would go with statistic because that is the best answer.
