The art class is making wind chimes out of tin cans. Each can is 5 inches tall with a radius of 2 inches. The students have to paint the outside portions of the Cans they want to use in their windchimes.

Explanation:

Since, the shape of the can is cylindrical,

And, the lateral area of the cylinder is,


A = 2 \pi rh

Where r = radius of the cylinder

h = height of the cylinder

Here, r = 2 inches, h = 5 inches

Hence, the the lateral area for one of the tin cans,


A = 2\pi* 2* 5


A = 2* 3.14* 2* 5


A = 62.8\text{ square inches}

Option A is correct.
