Strategies to identify high fibre whole grain foods
Differentiate between plant-based and animal-based food because only plant-based foods contain fibre e.g fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, whole grains.
Fruits that you can eat without peeling their skin have more fibre than those you peel off because there is high percentage of fibre in the outer protective layer of a fruit e.g apples, strawberries, carrots.
Vegetables that are green and leafy have more constituent of fibre than other, as more the green vegetable will be more cellulose it will have which is actually fibre.
All types of seeds, beans and some dry fruits like almond are enriched source of fibre e.g flaxseeds chai, seeds, black and white beans, kidney beans.
All types of porridge.
