During the Korean War, MacArthur served as the commander of UN forces. He had previously served Commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific and as Supreme Allied Commander. As commander of UN forces, he overstepped his bounds and criticized Truman's reluctance to contain the war as opposed to invading China.
