How and why did many Southerners attempt to stop the laws Congress passed?

They didn’t agree with the north and they were trying to take away slavery which is what the southerners made they’re money off free labor and they didn’t want to live with them at all

because it had to deal with slavery and they did not want to end it so they attempted to stop congress
