Here, the question says to find how many way you and your friend both be chosen. So your and your friend's selection is 2C2 and third person's selection would be (7-2)C1.

Total number of ways = 2C2 x (7-2)C1.

Total number of ways = 1 x 5C1.

Hence, Total number of ways = 5C1 = 5.
