President Wilson wanted the United States to provide leadership at the end of World War I due to the fact that he believed that the United States will be able to perfectly protect world peace.
In the awake of the war, he helped to strike a peace treaty that had a plan for the League of Nations.
In spite of the fact that the US Senate rejected the membership in the League, Wilson was granted the Nobel Prize for the peacemaking steps that he took during the time.
