Thrombosis is a blood clot in an artery or vein and can be very serious if not treated as they can lead to strokes, heart attacks, or deep vein thrombosis. In order to treat the blood clot or prevent others from forming people are prescribed a type of drug that thins the blood called an anticoagulant or blood thinner. Such examples would be Heparin or Warfarin.
