Germany surrendered officialy on May 7, 1945 to the Allies bringing an end to the European conflict in World War II. On the other hand Japan only surrendered after the nuclear attack on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. These attack forced Imperial Japan to announce surrender on August 15, 1945 and formally signed on September 2, 1945
