Zechariah acted in disbelief.
Angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah in theTemple and he told Zechariah that his wife Elizabeth (who had been barren) were going to have a son named John. Zechariah doubted about that because they bith were old to conceived a son. Zechariah was punished for his disbelief and he remained silent until the child’s birth.
