The nature of the movement for the national unification in Italy was a struggle because of power since Piedmont wanted to be the dominant ruler, domestic problems , Mazzini's writings motivating for unification, and Cavour's interest in an economic unity of Italy. Mazzini's writing was one of the reasons that started the movement for unification. During the movement, the Italians noticed that it was hard to move on with the movement without any help from foreign countries, Sardinia was known as the leader, Sardinia was also granted a constitution.
