The term Dysplasia describes the enlargement of an organ or tissue because of an abnormal increase in the number of cells in the tissue.

Cervical dysplasia is a precancerous condition in which abnormal cell growth occurs on the surface lining of the cervix or endo-cervical canal, the opening between the uterus and the vagina.

Symptoms:

There are typically no symptoms of cervical dysplasia. Occasionally, abnormal bleeding may occur. However, in the absence of symptoms, the cell changes are invisible to the naked eye and are usually found during a regular Pap test.
