The United States Navy chose to name after comedian Bob Hope for his remarkable service to the United States Armed Services as a touring comedian through USO. Hope was one of the most prolific volunteers for this and brought comfort to many soldiers and sailors in his life.

Why did the Navy choose to honor Hope by naming a ship after him?
