Lipids
are biomolecules that are insoluble in water and are made up of fatty acids, sterols, and isoprenoid compounds.
Lipid rich foods are high in calories and owing to the presence of fatty acids the lipids are used as energy storage molecules in the body.
The fatty acids help in energy storage as they are composed of long chains of hydrocarbons that are attached to carboxylic acids.
These fatty acids go under the process of reduction and on getting reduced they produce acetyl CoA which can be utilized to produce ATP.
Some common examples of lipid-rich foods are oils, butter, etc.
