So I realize this is not the place to ask this, but I am writing a birthday card to my girlfriend (I'm 12), and I am deciding whether to write a really nice poem or something.

being a female, i know the answer to your dilemma.

Explanation:

think of what she likes. be thoughtful in what you write. if you would like to write a poem, do a haiku. a haiku is a three-lined poem, the first and last lines have five syllables, the second line has seven syllables. if your girlfriend likes glitter, use glitter. don't try to over-exaggerate how you feel, though. that never works. hope this will help you! :)
