Answer: 12 - c

Explanation:

Since, the total number of candies = 96

Total number of children = 8

If the candies is evenly divided among the students,

Then, the candies one child gets =
(96)/(8) = 12

According to the question,

Cindy, received c fewer cookies than she would have received had all of the cookies been evenly divided among the 8 grandchildren.

Thus, the candies Cindy got = 12 - c
