use the formula a^2+b^2=c^2
a and b are the legs of the triangle and c is the hypotenuse.
substitute the variables for numbers
9^2+40^2=c^2
solve
9^2+40^2=1681
because it's squared do slice for square root
√1681=41
answer: B. 41
