Oxidation: electrons are removed or gained from/in a molecule or atom.

What I would put as the answer:

a molecule is oxidized when it has a reduction of electrons.

OR YOU COULD SAY

a molecule is oxidized when it gains electrons and it's oxidation number decreases or is reduced (becomes more negative).
