The rainforests are characterised by high temperatures as well as high humidity, it rains between 250 and 450 centimeters. They have around 40% to 75% of all the speceies of animals and plants on Earth. The ammount of trees living there makes that only 2% of sunligth reaches the ground. Rainforests absorb huge amounts dioxide (wich causes global warming), it is important to protect these forests from deforestaion caused by illegal logging and the expansion of urban areas. A charateristic animal of rainforests is the sloth.
