I'm pretty sure it's C, he loved the old man, because it was true, he did love the old man, he just hated his eye. He wanted to destroy the evil in the old man's eye but not the man.

The correct answer is C. He can calmy tell the story. In the story "Tell-Tale Heart," the narrator claims he is not mad because his actions are extremely well thought out to have been done by a mad man.

He accepts that” I loved the old man. He had never wronged me”.Yet, He never denies killing the old man, moreover he takes time to explain his reasons for the horrible deed.
