In one baseball season, Peter hit twice the difference of the number of home runs Alice hit and 6. Altogether, they hit 18 home runs. How many runs did each player hit that season?

Answer:

Alice hit 10 and Peter hit 8

Explanation:

P=2(A-6)

A+P=18


Plug the equation in for P to get A+2(A-6)=18

A+2A-12=18

A+2A=30

3A=30

A=10

18-10=8

P=8
