In 1873, Hawaii's plantation owners revolted against Hawaii's Queen, named Queen Liliuokalani. The United States helped the plantation owners by sending soldiers to Hawaii. A couple years after the royal defeated, in 1895, the monarchy was overthrown and the Queen officially dissolved the government. Shortly after, Hawaii became the 50th State of the U.S.
