do you know how you would get get into inches? since there are 12 inches in a foot, you would multiply however many feet there are by 12. same here, you multiply the number of tons by however many pounds are ina ton. you are also turning a day into hours. since it is per hour though you are take 24* 1 and divide the number of pounds by it. if there is ever "per" like that it means division.
