The Han dynasty was the second dynasty of China that lasted from 206 BC up to 220 AD, preceded by the Qin dynasty (from 221 to 206 BC).

The ways in which the Han dynasty showed respect for Chinese traditions, was encouraging people to begin studying Confucious' teachings and they supported Chinese arts as well as scholarship.
