While William Henry Harrison was Governor of Indiana, he led troops into the Battle of Tippecanoe.

He was victorious in that battle and famously was associated with that battle forever with his nickname of "Old Tippecanoe"

William Henry Harrison had been a general in the army. He was nicknamed "Old Tippecanoe" after he defeated the Shawnee Indians under Chief Tecumesh at the Tippecanoe River in 1811.
