In photosynthesis, the carbon dioxide is broken apart and the carbon atoms are used to make glucose, which is the sugar of the cell. In a similar way, in cellular respiration the glucose is broken apart and the carbon atoms are used to make carbon dioxide gas.

True, During photosynthesis, the plants takecarbon dioxide (which is present throughout the air) and water (which is also in the air and dirt) and turn it into sugar, among other compounds. Plants also produce oxygen during photosynthesis.
