Solution:

4 * 10 {}^(3 ) = 4 * 1000 = 4000 \\ 4 * 10 {}^(4) = 4 * 10000 = 40000 \\ 4000 + 40000 = 44000

Hey there!

\bold{(4*10^3)+(4*10^4)}

\bold{The \ steps\downarrow}

  • \bold{10^3=10*10*10=\rightarrow1,000}

  • \bold{(4*1,000)+(4*10^4)}

  • \bold{10^4=10*10*10*10=\rightarrow10,000}

  • \bold{4*1,000=4,000}

  • \bold{4*10,000=40,000}

  • \bold{4,000+40,000=44,000}

  • \boxed{\boxed{\bold{Your\ answer:44,000}}}\checkmark
