You have a jar containing 10 green marbles, 20 blue marbles, 10 white marbles and 15 red marbles for a combined total of 55 marbles. What is the percentage of the following occurring? Express the occurrence’s probability as a fraction. a)     You want to pick one green marble on the first draw   b)    You wish to pick one blue marble on the first draw.

Since you may pick any of the marbles with the same probability, the answers will follow the pattern


P = \frac{\text{number of required marbles}}{\text{total number of marbles}}

So, the probability of picking a green marble is


P = (10)/(55) = (2)/(11)

And a blue marble is


P = (20)/(55) = (4)/(11)
