Why did the British fight the war of 1812?

The United States declared war on Britain in 1812 it did so because Britain refuse to stop seizing American ships that traded with France, Britain’s enemy in Europe. In the British perspective, the Americans had stab them in the back while they, the British, we’re busy fighting a total war against the French empire.
