The local car dealership has noticed a 3:1

ratio for people purchasing SUV's to those
purchasing trucks. If they have room for
128 trucks and SUV's on their lot, how
many trucks should they have available to
sell?

Answer:

32 trucks.

Explanation:

3:1

Every time 3 SUV's are sold, one truck is sold. This would also mean that
(3)/(4) of both trucks and SUV's sold are SUV's. If we divide 128 into fourths, then you get 32. One fourth of 128 is 32. So, they should have 32 trucks (and 96 SUV's)
