If two triangles are similar with a zoom factor of 3, and the smaller one has area 12 sq. units, what is the area of the bigger one? the answer is 108 sq units, im curious how it got there

A = 1/2 * b * h

b is base, h is height

For 12 square units, we can have a base of 6 and a height of 4

By tripling the dimensions for the second triangle, we will have a triangle of 18 by 12

So the new area is;

A = 1/2 * 12 * 18

That was how we got 108 square units
