Down syndrome is the patological state in which three copies of chromosome 21 are present in the karyotype. It can cause a wide variety of effects like cardiac malformations, flat cheeks , a single palmar crest, short fingers, it can increase the chance that the person with this syndrome get's Alzheimer's, the life expectancy is about 50. People with down syndrome can be helped with medications that relieves the physiological effects, they can be helped in school by recieving a special treatment.
