PQR = PRQ = 2x ° ( base angle of an isosceles are equal ) .

therefore

PQR + PRQ + QPR = 180° ( sum of angles in a triangle )

2x + 2x + 40 = 180

4x + 40 = 180

subtract 40 from both sides

4x = 140

divide through by 4

x = 35°
