A pair of shoes is ticketed $49.99 but marked 15% off. You had a coupon for an additional 10% off the sales price. You have to pay 6.75% sales tax on shoes. How much are you paying?

Answer:

$40.86

Explanation:

just multiply 49.99 times 0.15 then multiply 49.99 times 0.10 then add those together to get 12.49 then multiply 49.99 times 0.0675 to get 3.37 then subtract 12.49 from 49.99 then add 3.37 to that so like

(49.99 - 12.49) + 3.37 = 40.86
