The French Revolution was a period of major social upheaval from 1787-1799. It completely changed the relationship between the rulers and the people whom they governed to redefine the political power. The French Revolution started because of a widespread of discontent with the French monarchy. The revolution came to an end when General Napoleon overthrew the Revolutionary Government and established the French Consulate. General Napoleon became the leader.
