Answer = 6 hours
Reason
Using formula Y=mx + b
Y is your total $
M is your y/x rate
B is your y intercept, the starting point
38 = 5/1 x + 8
Solve
38 = 5x + 8 subtract 8 from both sides to isolate x
30 = 5x
now divide both sides by 5 to solve for x
X=6
Now check your work
38 = (5)(6) + 8
38 = 38
So it equals !
