The distance between Columbia and Savannah is 6.5 inches on a map. If the map scale is 1 inch = 30 miles, what is the actual distance between the towns?

195 miles

Explanation:

Because if 1 inch= 30 miles you would have to multiply 30 by 6 because there is 6 inches, which is 180. The you have to look at the .5. .5 is half an inch, so you have to divide 30 by 2. you get 15 and then add 15 to the 180 and get 195.
