The fourteenth amendment is the amendment that grants all people “equality”. More specifically black Americans.... this amendment was made from several cases, a famous one being Morrison vs the United states. The interpretation has been changed over time due to the courts finding equality a very hard thing to satisfy in present time and the concept has been changed both for the fairness of the people and the justice of the courts.
