okay, so, you didn't include the text, so I don't know if I'm correct or not, but I'll give it a whirl, the Declaration of independence was sent to the king of England because he was raising taxes in modern day US and the people had enough, they tried to be civilized but the king really liked America and wanted to keep it, this INFLUENCED the king to go to war, revolutionary war (Hamilton the play would be a nice way to learn about it). The Declaration also influences the US government today by providing a little bit of a guide line for our modern day law, since THE DECLARATION was about freedom for all, we made it so that we almost have no laws except for the hundreds that come with the basis of no taking away others freedom, again, I don't have the text you are referring to, but hey, I tried
