To appease the Anti-Federalists and gain their approval for the ratification of the Constitution the Federalists created the Bill of Rights. Many Anti-Federalists felt that the Constitution would take away their freedoms overtime like the British did to the Colonists. Have a list of these rights that could not be taken away made many of the Anti-Federalists comfortable with the constitution and it was later approved to be ratified. The Bill of Rights was known as one of the Great Compromises in U.S. history.
